Humane Education Mission
Our mission is to promote animal welfare and support the human-animal bond by providing pay-what-you-can pet training services rooted in positive-reinforcement techniques. We empower individuals to become skilled and compassionate guardians, volunteers, and up-and-coming trainers as we develop the next generation of animal advocates in Southern Maryland.
At Wag Workshops, we envision a world where every pet receives compassionate care, every trainer is equipped with top-notch skills, and every bond between humans and animals is built with mutual understanding and trust.

How we support our Mission
Wag Workshops is not established for profit with a humane education mission. We are focused on educational and charitable purposes, and we are organized as a 501c3. This is a type of nonprofit organization in that has been granted tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service. Wag Workshops is recognized as a charitable organization, and we are eligible to receive tax-deductible donations.
We operate for the benefit of residents of Southern Maryland. Wag Workshops is especially focused on residents who work or live with companion animals, such as dogs and cats. Wag Workshops relies on donations, grants, and other forms of funding to support our activities and programs. Wag Workshops also relies on volunteers to help carry out the mission and achieve these goals.
Group Training Classes Supporting our Humane Education Mission
When done with humane methods, group dog training classes can improve the bond between humans and their dogs. We know that a strong bond can help keep dogs in their homes. Group Dog training classes can be an important resource for dog owners for a number of additional reasons:
- Group Training classes can help dogs learn basic obedience skills such as sitting, staying, and coming when called. These skills are important for maintaining good behavior and a strong bond with their owner.
- Group Training Classes can help dogs learn how to socialize with other dogs and people in a controlled environment. This can be especially important for puppies, who can benefit from early socialization to help prevent fear and aggression later in life.
- Group Training classes can provide a structured environment for us to learn and practice new skills. This can help build confidence and prevent boredom, which can lead to destructive behaviors.
- Group Training classes can be a great way for dog owners to learn how to effectively communicate and work with their dog. This can help strengthen the bond between owner and dog and facilitate a more harmonious relationship.
- Group Training classes can be a fun and enjoyable activity for both dogs and their owners. They can provide an opportunity for dogs to get exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement, which can improve overall well-being.
Online Library Supporting our Humane Education Mission
Online education has become increasingly important in recent years as it provides a number of benefits and opportunities for learners. Some reasons why online education is important include:
Trusted Local Experts: Wag Workshops offers information from vetted experts, who offer services locally.
Flexibility: Online learning allows residents to learn at their own pace and schedule, making it a good option for those who have busy schedules or who need to balance their learning with other responsibilities.
Accessibility: Online learning is often more accessible than traditional in-person information, as it can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. This is particularly important for rural Southern Maryland or for users who have disabilities that make it difficult to attend in-person classes.
Affordability: Our online resources are offered for free!
Diverse course offerings: Sometimes access to a specialist can be difficult to find. We offer specialized topics that are easy to find
Convenience: Online education allows residents access to information from the convenience of their own home, which can be a major advantage for those who have busy schedules or who prefer to learn from home.
Overall, online education can provide a number of benefits and opportunities for learners, making it an important option for those who are looking to further their education.
